On October 31, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., personnel from the Division of Legal Affairs, together with the university’s cooperative education students, participated in Walailak University’s ceremony acknowledging the Royal Command appointing Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong to continue serving as the University President for another term. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Suwat Chansuk, Deputy Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Mr. Teerachai Chemanasiri, Chairman of the University Council, members of the University Council, university executives, personnel, students, heads of public and private sector agencies, distinguished guests, and members of the press at the Main Auditorium, Thaiburi Building.
The ceremony began with the procession presenting the Royal Command appointing the University President to the ceremony venue at the Main Auditorium, Thaiburi Building. Associate Professor Dr. Suwit Wuttisuttimetawadi, Vice President, read the Royal Command. Subsequently, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong paid respects in front of the portrait of His Majesty the King, presented a ceremonial floral tribute, and officially received the Royal Command.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong expressed his gratitude for the royal grace as follows:
‘On the occasion of His Majesty the King graciously issuing the Royal Command appointing me as the President of Walailak University for a second term, effective from June 30, 2024, I am deeply honored and profoundly grateful for this unparalleled privilege bestowed upon me and my family.
I am fully aware that serving as the President of Walailak University is a significant responsibility in advancing the nation’s education. It requires knowledge, capability, and great dedication to ensure that Walailak University brings the utmost benefit to its students, the education system, and the country.
Furthermore, I am committed to developing Walailak University into a university of quality and a leading research institution in the country that offers education in accordance with international standards, so that its graduates are well-prepared, recognized by society, and aligned with the founding vision of the university.
With the boundless royal grace of His Majesty the King, who graciously issued the Royal Command appointing me as the President of Walailak University, I solemnly pledge to perform my duties with loyalty, integrity, and adherence to good governance principles, prioritizing the benefit of the nation, in order to advance Walailak University as an academic institution that contributes to the progress of the university, local communities, and the country at large.
