To enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of the legal requirements and appropriate practices governing the installation and operation of CCTV systems under personal data protection legislation.
Training Programme on Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) and Personal Data Protection (PDPA)
The Legal Affairs Division organized a training programme to strengthen knowledge and raise awareness regarding the proper installation and operation of closed-circuit television systems in compliance with Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019). The programme aimed to promote lawful, transparent, and responsible operational practices while ensuring due respect for the rights of personal data subjects.
To enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of the legal requirements and appropriate practices governing the installation and operation of CCTV systems under personal data protection legislation.
Images and recordings captured by CCTV systems may constitute personal data and must therefore be collected, retained, used, and disclosed in a lawful, secure, and appropriate manner.
The programme addressed appropriate camera installation, the preparation of CCTV privacy notices, secure management of recorded footage, and responsible procedures for accessing and using personal data.
Participants received practical guidance on preventing unauthorized access, use, disclosure, or distribution of CCTV footage and reducing potential legal and institutional risks.
The training programme focused on strengthening institutional standards for the lawful and responsible use of CCTV systems in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act. Particular emphasis was placed on safeguarding the rights of personal data subjects, selecting appropriate installation locations, providing clear and transparent CCTV privacy notices, securely managing recorded footage, and preventing unauthorized use or disclosure. The knowledge gained from the programme will support the University’s commitment to good governance, accountability, and effective personal data protection.
