Event Details

On 3 July 2026, the Head of the Division of Legal Affairs, Walailak University, served as a guest lecturer on the topic “Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019)” for second-year students in the Community Public Health Programme, School of Public Health, Walailak University.

The lecture formed part of the course CPH68-251 Health Information Management offered in the first semester of the 2026 academic year. It aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of the essential principles of personal data protection and appropriate practices relating to the collection, use, disclosure, storage, and safeguarding of personal information.

The guest lecturer explained the rights of data subjects, the responsibilities of data controllers and data processors, and the precautions required when handling health information. Health data constitute sensitive personal data and must therefore be protected through appropriate legal, organisational, and technical measures.

The lecture also emphasised the application of personal data protection principles to academic study, public health practice, and health information management. Appropriate application of these principles can help reduce the risk of personal data breaches and promote responsible, ethical, and rights-respecting use of information.

The activity enabled students to learn directly from a legal specialist with practical experience. The knowledge gained can be applied to their studies, professional training, and future careers in public health in a lawful and responsible manner.

The lecture enhanced students’ awareness of personal data protection and prepared them to apply legal principles responsibly in their studies, professional training, and future public health careers.
